Environmental Racism Panel on March 21

Presented in collaboration between @osgoode_oisa & @osgoode_els join us on Monday March 21st at 1pm for a discussion on Environmental Racism. 

Our panel of three lawyers will provide their insight and lessons on addressing environmental racism in Canada. Our panelists include:

Ecojustice (representative TBA) – currently representing two members of Aamjiwnaang First Nation in a case against Imperial Oil for its excessive releases of sulphur dioxide in Chemical Valley.

Kevin Hille – Kevin is an Associate at Olthuis Kleer Townshend LLP. He is an experienced litigator committed to advancing Indigenous rights and the principles of mutual respect, reciprocity, and cooperation in the relationship between Indigenous peoples and the Crown.

Angela Simmonds – Angela is a Member of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. She was recently the Executive Director of the Land Titles Initiative in the Office of Equity and Anti-Racism. The Lands Title Initiative is a government-led initiative and fund to address the legacy of systemic racism relating to land ownership in historic African Nova Scotian communities.
